We stayed at two different houses offered by Japan Experience during our time in Japan - 7 nights at the Demachi 2 house in Kyoto and 2 nights in Kanazawa. While we liked the actual house in Kanazawa better, the location of the Kyoto house was much better. We would definitely come back to that house in the future. Overall, the experience was wonderful!
